Experience and Beliefs

My Uncle Ted established 1st American Builders of Chicago, Inc. in 1960 and I, James Halikas, joined the firm in 1973 as Vice President.  At the retiring of my Uncle in 1985, I became the President of the Corporation and continued his same work ethics, but instituted enhancements to quality, skill performance, and competitive purchasing methods.

Work Performance

All work performed by 1st American Builders of Chicago, Inc. has to pass a multitude of standards.  First and foremost, all work has to be code-compliant, meet the specifications of the contract, and also meet the internal quality standards of 1st American Builders of Chicago, Inc.  ADA requirements, if necessary, are also incorporated into those standards.  Work is estimated, organized, expedited, and continually overseen throughout the duration of the project by the same Project Manager.  In this way, this guarantees a personalized service that surpasses the construction industry standards.  We are proud to work close with our customers in designing all aspects of their project, which in turn, sees a project to completion that is both professional, and meets the customer’s complete satisfaction. 

Price

We never know if we are the lowest, highest, or somewhere in the middle, and we know that price is a major factor in your choice of Contractor.  When considering a Contractor, price is not always the best choice, as there is a tradeoff when you compare price to quality. It is a known fact that when, as a Contractor, you entirely commit your efforts and ability to a project, Owner satisfaction will be greater than when the Contractor tries to perform a less than total effort by using sub-standard materials and workmanship to bid a lower-priced Contract.
